GRADING

  • 50% - Formative:  Classwork, Homework, Quizzes, Lab Write-ups, Daily Participation
  • 50% - Summative:  Tests,  Projects, Research and Major Labs
  • It is the student’s responsibility for assignments missed during any absence.  (See Student-Parent Handbook)
  • You are responsible to obtain work prior to any planned absence. No extra time is given for assignments already in your hands or during a planned absence. Please check in with me ahead of time for planned absences.

REGULAR SCHOOL ATTENDANCE INCREASES SUCCESS!

 

In order to correct an assignment a student must:

  • Score below 75% on the assignment.
  • Complete the corrections of the assignment within 5 school days of the original due date.
  • Complete ALL previous assignments (no zeros or missing work).
  • Corrections must include an explanation of WHY the previous answer was wrong and what needed to be done to reach the correct answer.
Corrected scores will not exceed 75%.

  

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS / POLICIES

  • Respect the teacher and classmates to provide the best learning environment for all (common courtesy).
  • Respect school property and lab equipment.  Students are responsible for damage or breakage of lab equipment.
  • Follow all lab safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Be in the class seated and prepared to work when the bell rings.
  • Take care of all personal needs BEFORE arriving to class. (Restroom, water, etc.)
  • Bring all necessary supplies to class and use class time wisely.  You must have your binder in class daily.
  • Cell phones and other electronic devices are not to be seen, heard, or used unless directed by the teacher.  They will be taken up and/or turned in to the office.
  • No food or drinks will be allowed in the classroom, except for water (with a secure lid).  Water must be in a clear container.
  • Take ownership of your success in this class.  Develop your own mission statement / goal desired!
  • The Student/Parent Handbook will be the basis for standard rules.

 

SUPPLIES - BRING DAILY!

  • 3-Ring Binder (1" minimum, but 2" should be plenty)
  • Loose-leaf paper / Folder paper
  • Pencils (more than one)
  • Eraser

Other Supplies (Optional):

  • Tabbed Dividers (for Binder)
  • Colored pencils
  • Highlighters

 

Family Access is available to check your grades and missing assignments.
