Welcome to English I at LHS!  I hope you will find the course to be interesting, exciting and beneficial,.. it would be good to throw in "a little fun" too.  It is so important that we build a strong English foundation during the Freshman year.  We will focus on various types of literature, grammar & vocabulary and ways to put thoughts together to better understand and express.  Reading level/skill is key to anything we do, so there is a focused effort each day to improve comprehension, while building (hopefully) a lifelong passion for reading!

I also coach at LHS.  You will find me during basketball coaching JV Lady Badger basketball and as part of our LHS track program.  This is such a great way to work with our students on a different level from the classroom.  It also helps me see a different perspective of student life.

I built a home and moved to Lampasas three years ago.  Most of my extended family has migrated over time from the Dallas area to the Hill Country and I though; "Why not?"  I did undergrad and grad work at Texas Tech University.  My degrees are in Education and Business. Administration.  The first six years after graduating I taught English I & English IV both regular and honors classes, and coached football, basketball and track.  I transitioned into business after that and spent the next 35 years working in both the corporate world and as a private company owner.  These careers allowed me to work on four continents and with different societies, cultures and views of the world.   I still own a small food company which takes only a small portion of my time. I've come full circle back to the classroom and believe my life experiences will allow for the sharing of knowledge that stretches beyond the norm.  The intent is simply to enrich and enhance the learning experience for my students.

I look forward to getting to know and your son or daughter as we work our way through English I here at LHS.  And remember..."It is always a great day to be a Badger!"
