Welcome!

I look forward to partnering with the parents to make the school year a success for our exceptional students.  If there are ever any concerns or questions do not hesitate to reach out to me.

HONORS ALGEBRA II:  In Algebra II, students will build on the knowledge and skills for mathematics in Kindergarten-Grade 8, Algebra I, and Geometry. Students will broaden their knowledge of quadratic functions, exponential functions, and systems of equations. Students will study logarithmic, square root, cubic, cube root, absolute value, rational functions, and their related equations. Students will connect functions to their inverses and associated equations and solutions in both mathematical and real-world situations. In addition, students will extend their knowledge of data analysis and numeric and algebraic methods.

COURSE SUPPLIES:
Composition Notebook with grid paper (good for graphing)

Pencils

Chromebook or device (checked out from library and all assignments will be given through Canvas)

EXPECTATIONS FOR EXCELLENCE…

  • PURSUE the Best You!
  • Be prepared,
  • Be productive, and
  • Be respectful!

GRADING POLICY: Daily Grades 50%: homework, notes, in-class assignments, and quizzes.

Major Grades 50%: tests, projects, polished drafts

The weight is set forth by the district.

HOMEWORK: I will assign homework through Canvas throughout the week and due that night. All homework will be left open until Sunday at midnight without any penalty. Once the assignments are closed, the assignment will not be re-opened. To receive credit, homework must show calculations, when needed. Students can check their answers throughout the week and ask for assistance when the need arises.

QUIZZES: Quizzes will be given randomly on a Canvas Quiz, so a Chromebook or device will be needed every day. Pop quizzes are expected.

  • Other necessary information

  • ABSENCE WORK…

It is the student’s responsibility to pick up any missing work and turn in any work that was due the day(s) you were out. Work that is assigned prior to your absence is due the day you return! Don’t get behind.

  • School Related Activity Absences---Honor students are required to collect their assignments prior to missing class and turn it in upon return or on its due date.

  • EXTRA HELP… TUTORIALS…

It is your responsibility to come in for extra help. I don’t know that you don’t understand something unless you let me know. You are welcome to get help from any math teacher.

* Come to academics.

* BY APPT on Mondays through Thursdays after school 3:25-4:00pm.

  • LATE WORK… there is none.

## Late work is not accepted. Everything will be turned in through Canvas with the exception of some quizzes and tests. When the assignment window closes, you will be required to attend academics to do an alternate assignment to receive a grade prior to the end of the 3-week period.

  • REASSESSMENT opportunities on tests only & upon request for tests below an 85.

*Honors Algebra II is only permitted 1 retake per nine weeks.

Process:

  1. Come to tutorials to do corrections on the test being reassessed.
  1. Set up an appointment to take a reassessment during tutorials/academics.
  1. Keep the higher score of the two assessments.

  • CELL PHONES… will not be permitted for use during the class period.
  • TECH ISSUES… per administration, cell phones will not be permitted when chromebooks are not working. Repeatedly not charging your chromebook or bringing your charger could result in a blue card.
