Welcome to Law Enforcement I, Law Enforcement II, Criminal Investigations, and Forensic Psychology.
My Name is Michael Tatum and this is my third year teaching high school students.
Prior to becoming a teacher I served in the United States Army for 4 years as a Fire Directions Specialist in a Tactical Operations Center. I was stationed in Kitzingen West Germany and Fort Sill Oklahoma during my time in the military. I was deployed to Saudi Arabia and Iraq for Desert Shield/Desert Storm from Fort Sill Oklahoma. After I left the US Army, I was employed by the Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) for eight years where I worked as a Use of Force Coordinator, a Compliance Supervisor, a Drug Testing Coordinator, Chemical Agents Instructor, Unit Armorer and a Field Officer. After I left TDC, I was employed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) for 18 years where I worked as a Highway Patrolman and I specialized in Crash Investigation & Crash Reconstruction. I also taught Level I Crash Investigation, Level II Crash Investigation, and Level V Crash Investigation for approximately thirteen years. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to work at the Governors Mansion, the State Capitol, President Bush's Ranch and various areas throughout Texas. I was deployed to Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Ike, and Hurricane Harvey where I assisted numerous agencies with disaster response.
I am married and we have three children, two daughters and one son.
