Course Overview:
This is a 4th year science course designed to enable a better understanding of how science concepts are used in the real world, specifically in the law enforcement and justice system areas. Lab work, the use of multimedia and computer simulations, and laboratory and field investigations are important components of this course. We will cover such topics as hair and trace evidence, ballistics, substance analysis, fingerprinting, and DNA evidence.
Required Materials:
- 1 folder or some place to keep notes and assignments
- Basic School supplies (pen/pencil are required, scissors, glue, and/or markers would be helpful)
- 1 box of facial tissue
Class Rules:
- Be Prompt. (if not, get a tardy slip from the office)
- Be Prepared. (bring all materials every day)
- Be Present. (no phones, no earbuds, no food, no leaving)
- Be A Good Human. (respect people-including their choices and property)

1st 9 weeks: Role of forensic science/ Crime Scenes/ Paint and Glass
2nd 9 weeks: Hair/Fiber/Textiles/Fingerprints/ Impressions/Blood analysis
3rd 9 weeks: Counterfeiting/Forgery/Handwriting Analysis, Arson/Serology
4th 9 weeks: Toxicology/Drugs/Alcohol/Death investigation & Autopsy/ Anthropology
