Effective communication is a key to success. Under this section, you will find classroom rules, procedures and policies. If you are looking for assignments or due dates you can find that under the Honors World History or World History "Lesson Plans"  option on the left menu.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY:

All students at Lampasas High School are expected to conduct themselves with great pride in academics and the community at large. To this end, it is expected that all students will maintain academic integrity in every assignment. Work must be completed individually unless otherwise directed by the teacher. Plagiarism is a severe offense and will result in immediate consequences.

    • The first week of class, I will put you in a seating chart.  You may assume that unless I change your seating, this is your seat for the remainder of the school year.
    • What do you do when entering and leaving the room?
      • Entering:  Get some hand sanitizer on your way in the door, find your seat and check for your Warm-up/ Bell Ringer Activities in Canvas.
      • Exiting:  DO NOT WAIT at my door!  I will dismiss you or you will have an exit ticket to dismiss you from class.
  • YOU MUST HAVE YOUR CHROMEBOOK EVERY DAY, CHARGED!
  • Tardy Policy
    • If my door is closed, you’re tardy. Have a seat and catch up with us ASAP.  The student handbook indicates when too many tardies will result in ISS or another consequence.
  • Class Participation
    • I expect you to have completed any homework or reading assignment, and be prepared to turn it in or contribute to the discussion.
  • When do the extra conversations end?
    • You may talk QUIETLY during bell ringer time and while I’m taking care of clerical obligations.
    • When I stand up to begin the direct teach OR independent work begins, all extra conversations needs to end.  RESPECT your neighbor’s need for quiet while they work.
  • Using resources and supplies?
    • Please take care of needing to borrow a writing utensil and paper, chromebooks and chargers,  or sharpening your pencil before class and during bell ringer time.
    • Once direct teach begins, it’s emergency only.
  • Cell Phones?
    • LHS has a ZERO tolerance cell phone policy now.  ALL phones must be put in the hanging rack on my wall.  The desk you are sitting in, has a corresponding number on the rack.  Put your phone in that slot.  If you are sitting in a seat that I ran out of slots, put your phone in an empty slot and remember the number, OR put it on the file cabinet next to the rack.  You may only have your phone out during passing periods and lunch.
  • Earbuds?
    • BT earbuds are not allowed at all in class.  If you need wired earbuds for text to speech options plugged into your Chromebook, please let me know and I will get sets to use.  In the hallway, during PASSING periods, 1 earbud is allowed in the ear.  For safety purposes, please leave one out.
  • Food and Drink?
    • Water will never be an issue.  Bring a water bottle with you if you’d like.
    • Sweet, sticky, sugary drinks - with a closable lid, unless they become an issue.
    • Food - small, quickly consumed snacks in a sealable container/bag, that can be put away quickly if necessary.
    • ANY TIME food and drink become an issue - the privilege will be done away with.  This includes; leaving messes, wrappers, excessive spills, or it becomes a distraction or you are treating my class time as lunch time.
  • My attention?
    • Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
  • Course Requirements?
    • All work is due on the due date.
    • Late work will be taken within the same 9 week grading period and you will lose 10pts/day with the max deducted being 30pts.
  • Grading Policy
    • 50% daily
    • 50% tests
    • Extra credit offered periodically
  • Make-up policy
    • Ideally, if you know you will be out, please turn in your work prior to leaving; otherwise, turn in as soon as you return.  All work will be available in Canvas.  So, you will have access if you are absent.
    • IF you have missed several days, please see the student handbook for district adopted deadlines.
    • Most work will be posted AND linked in Canvas; however, class discussions not through Canvas will not be posted.
  • Extra Credit?
    • See Canvas and/or Syllabus for Extra Credit opportunities. Other opportunities will be given throughout the school year.  Pay attention to class/Canvas announcements for those opportunities
  • Class Rules
    • RESPECT!!!!  Pretty much covers it.  If you respect yourself, respect your classmates, and respect me - we should not have any problems in class.
  • Material distribution
    • Most of your work will be in Canvas
    • Hard copies, I will pass out
    • Unless otherwise specified, ALL work is to be turned in through Canvas.
  • Bathroom privileges
    • IDEALLY - take care of this during passing periods.  I would rather delay starting class than be interrupted if you are hurrying to take care of this before the bell rings.
    • YOU must fill out an eHall pass before requesting to exit the classroom
    • You may NOT go to the bathroom during direct instruction - regardless of eHall passess still available, except in special circumstances
    • See the Bathroom addendum page for more information on bathroom privileges.
  • Class Liaisons
    • If you are seated close to the door, please follow these instructions:
      • If the adult has keys to unlock my door, please greet them and inform them what we are doing in class
      • If it is a classmate, allow them into the room
      • Any unknown individuals - adults or students - signal me and I will take care of the visitor.

ANY QUESTION NOT COVERED ON THIS SHEET, PLEASE RAISE YOUR HAND AND ASK.  IF YOU HAVE EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES, PLEASE TALK TO ME AND WE CAN WORK SOMETHING OUT.  IF YOU HAVE PERSONAL SCHOOL FILES, WHERE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE - WE WILL FOLLOW THAT PLAN.

GREAT WALL OF BADGER?  Bring in Newspaper clippings and let’s recognize your/their achievements!  LET’S HAVE A GREAT YEAR!
