Amazon: New $14.00 Used $9.50

Reminder, by signing up for Honors English I you agreed to complete the summer reading assignment.

Assignment: Your job this summer is to read the book! Once you have read the book here are your options:

  1. Draw a scene from the book. Pick a pivotal moment in the book and recreate the scene. You can do this on computer paper or a small poster board. Include a paragraph explaining your scene (paragraph should be at least 5 sentences long). You can paint, draw, whatever you want! Paragraph can be handwritten on notebook paper or typed up. ***Disclaimer, this option is truly for students who draw well and love art. No stick figures or traced images, all artwork must be original.
  2. Create a powerpoint presentation highlighting these items:
  • overall theme (main message/life lesson)
  • Short summary/plot outline (beginning/middle/end)
  • favorite part and why
  • Character that stood out to you the most and why

Powerpoint should be at least 5 slides long (not including a title slide), visually appealing and edited. Please include at least 3 images.

  1. You can complete the same task as option 2, but not in a powerpoint presentation. You can complete it on notebook paper/computer paper. Staple pages together, use best handwriting. Or, you could even create a colorful/decorated booklet- same information as above.
  2. Simply type out a short summary of each chapter- using your own words. Staple pages together. Summaries should be at least 4-7 sentences long. If you do not have access to a computer, you may write these out.

Due Date: August 15th, 2023- you can turn it in to me as early as Thursday, August 10th (first day of school).

***I know summer is a busy time! I understand that you could be traveling, working, etc.  My advice to you is to read a little bit each day Monday-Friday (at least a chapter a day if possible). If you are in the car- read…if you have some downtime-go into your room and read for at least 30mins… get started ASAP! You could even finish this by the end of May and have the entire summer- just a suggestion!

I am giving you guys 14 weeks to complete this. You got this!!

I look forward to teaching you all next year! Have a great summer!
