As a new yearbook advisor, this will be a pioneering year for all of us. Our class has reached a record number of students, and it will be structured to accommodate. We will often work in small groups, but grades will be earned on an individual basis. We use the Herff Jones eDesign program on our Chromebooks to produce a student publication that meets high levels of journalistic integrity by following journalistic ethics. First, we'll do a ton of content & information gathering!  Attendance at school events will be required outside school hours. I look forward to leading you, this year, as you create a timeless record of LHS culture for the 2022-23 school year.

Required Supplies

  • Notebook of your choice for notes/ideas/planning
  • SD card for camera storage
  • Phone or other recording device
  • Contract signed by student & parent/legal guardian

Classroom Requirements - Journalism I, Photojournalism I, LMS Yearbook experience, application process and/or instructor recommendation is required to be in this class.

Classroom Procedures-

Enter our shared space with an attitude of being OPEN to receive learning opportunities before you daily. At the tardy bell, put cell phones away in your school bag, and with respectful voices and bodies (hands to yourself). There is minimal need for cell phones in class, and we will follow the policy in the student handbook. Specific permission is given for class-related use of phones. You otherwise have no permission to record audio or video during class.

NO FOOD or drink allowed as expensive equipment is in our care.  However, water in a tightly-capped container is welcome!  Any "Work Nights" we spend together will have food available, responsibly.

Assignments - Each 9 weeks, you’ll receive at least 15 daily grades (50% of grade), and three tests (the other 50%). Quizzes are two daily grades.

Participation - the culture of LHS sufficient for historical documentation of the 2022-23 school year simply cannot happen in one daily class period. Students WILL be required to attend school-sponsored activities, which they sign up for. Transportation is not provided, but entrance fees are covered with a Press Pass.

Contract - Staff Contract and Equipment/Photography Contract must be signed and returned by Wed. 8/17 to remain in class.
